Web Content Management System

A web content management system provides a cheap and simple solution for web content publication. I am saying it is cheap because it saves the ongoing cost of frequent changes in the website. A novice person can also add web content without any technical knowledge.

A good content management system should have the following main features.

  1. Automated templates which gives flexibility of changing website design.
  2. A WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editing tool which helps non-technical individuals to add website content.
  3. Content Management system should allow scalable features/plugins to add in website. For example if you want to add a video album in your content management system, you should be able to add this functionality.
  4. A good content management system should provide a work flow management system, in the way that a content editor can write a story but an editor approves it.
  5. A good content management system should provide content syndication features such as emailing users whenever new content is added or using RSS or atoms to notify user about latest updates.
